Bahrain GP history and track details

Bahrain GP 2023

Bahrain Grand Prix was first held in 2004 and has been since then held every year, except for 2011, when it was cancelled due to the Bahrain uprising. For a long time, Bahrain GP used to be the third race in the season, except for 2006, 2010, and 2021.

This is also not the first time Bahrain has been the season opener in F1 as it did so for various reasons in 2006 and 2021. In 2014, Bahrain turned to a night race on its 10th year anniversary and has been a night race ever since.

Bahrain's track has multiple layouts with its Grand Prix Circuit of 5.412km being the most commonly used layout (2005 to 2009; 2012 onwards).

Its Endurance Circuit (3.299km) was used for the 2010 Bahrain GP while its Outer Circuit (3.543km) was used in 2020 for hosting back-to-back races in a season marred with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Also, its Original Grand Prix circuit (5.417km) was used for the inaugural Bahrain GP in 2004.

Last race winner Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) in 2022
