
Bahrain GP 2023: FP2 results; Fernando Alonso set the quickest lap time in the second free practice session of Formula 1's Bahrain Grand Prix in Shakir on Friday. The Aston Martin driver clocked 1:30.907 seconds on softy tyres ahead of defending champion Max Verstappen, who lapped his Red Bull 0.169 seconds behind Alonso.
Red Bull's second driver Sergio Perez took the third spot just 0.002 seconds behind his teammate with a timing of 1:31.078 seconds.
The session took place under the floodlights and so will the Qualifying session tomorrow, followed by the race on Sunday.
Earlier, Alonso was second quickest in the opening practice session while Perez topped the session.
In the FP2, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc (1:31.367 secs) was the fourth fastest driver ahead of Hass's Nico Hulkenberg, who was much quicker in the FP2 and finished ahead of his teammate with a timing of 1:31.376 secs.
Alonso's teammate Lance Stroll took the sixth spot with a timing of 1.31.450 while Alpine's Pierre Gasly was seventh ahead of Mercedes's Lewis Hamilton, who clocked 1:31.453.
McLaren's Lando Norris was ninth followed by Alfa Romeo's Zhou Guanyu as the quickest Asian driver on the grid so far this weekend.
