Carlos Sainz Joins Williams Racing In 2025, Lando Norris Confident Of Team's Revival

Carlos Sainz is set to join Williams Racing for the 2025 Formula One season. Lando Norris believes Sainz's experience will help the team return to competitive form.

Lando Norris is confident that Carlos Sainz will soon be competing at the forefront of Formula One again. Sainz's tenure with Ferrari concluded last season when it was announced that Lewis Hamilton would replace him for the 2025 season. During his time with Ferrari, Sainz achieved four victories and 25 podium finishes, including two wins last season.

In July, it was revealed that Sainz would join Williams alongside Alex Albon for the 2025 season. This decision surprised many in the sport but highlighted Williams' ambition to return to the front of the grid. Norris expressed no doubt about Sainz's ability to help his new team progress. "Carlos is someone I know well, and I've started racing in Formula 1 with Carlos," Norris said. "You always knew he was going to be there, and he was always going to put up a good fight."

Sainz to Boost Williams Racing in 2025

Norris believes that Williams has been improving significantly and that having someone like Sainz, with experience from a top team, will further boost their performance. "He'll be back," Norris stated confidently. "Williams have been improving a lot. They've not had someone with a lot of genuine experience from a top team. Carlos will for sure add to that and propel the team forwards even more."

Sainz had been considered for a potential seat at Red Bull due to uncertainty surrounding Sergio Perez's future. However, Liam Lawson replaced Perez instead. Despite this, Norris believes Sainz deserves to compete at the front due to his work ethic and on-track performances.

Norris also mentioned upcoming regulation changes in 2026 as an opportunity for teams like Williams to rise quickly in the rankings. "2026 is a year when anything can happen," Norris noted, suggesting that Williams could suddenly find themselves at the top.

Future Prospects in Formula One

Norris expressed disappointment over missed opportunities for Sainz but remains optimistic about his future prospects. "It's a shame because I think he [Sainz] has proven himself enough in Formula 1 that he deserves a good seat," Norris said.

The first race of the 2025 season is scheduled for March 16 at the Australian Grand Prix, where Sainz previously won with Ferrari at the start of last season. This event marks an important milestone as he embarks on his journey with Williams.
