General Motors (GM) plans to introduce a team under the Cadillac brand into Formula One by 2026. They have reached an agreement in principle with Formula One. The application will progress after GM and their partner, TWG Group, confirmed their commitment on Monday. They intend to name the new team after Cadillac, their luxury brand.
Initially, GM will need to purchase engines from existing suppliers as they plan to develop their own engine by 2028. Despite rejecting a previous bid involving Andretti and Cadillac in January, Formula One is keen on increased U.S. investment and views GM's involvement positively.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of the FIA, expressed support for GM's efforts. He stated, "I am fully supportive of the efforts made by the FIA, Formula 1, GM and the team to work towards an agreement in principle to progress this application to bring a GM/Cadillac branded team onto the grid for the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship."
Max Verstappen secured his fourth consecutive world title at the Las Vegas Grand Prix this season. This achievement highlights the competitive nature of Formula One racing today.
