Has Pierre Gasly Ever Won An F1 Race? His Record Explained

Pierre Gasly's maiden Formula 1 pole position has added another significant milestone to a career that already includes a Grand Prix victory and multiple podium finishes.

The Frenchman has spent much of his F1 career fighting outside the front-running teams, but he has still produced some of the sport's most memorable results. So, has Pierre Gasly ever won an F1 race, and how many podiums does he have?

Has Pierre Gasly ever won an F1 race?

Yes, Pierre Gasly has won one Formula 1 race.

Gasly claimed his maiden F1 victory at the 2020 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, producing one of the biggest upsets of the 2020 season with AlphaTauri.

The race was thrown into chaos after a Safety Car period, a pit-lane infringement by Lewis Hamilton and a red flag caused by Charles Leclerc's crash at the Parabolica.

Gasly had already made his pit stop before the Safety Car was deployed, leaving him at the front when the race restarted. He then held his nerve through the final stages to beat Carlos Sainz and Lance Stroll.

Sainz finished second for McLaren, while Stroll completed the podium for Racing Point.

The victory made Gasly only the second French driver to win a Grand Prix in the previous 24 years, following Olivier Panis' 1996 Monaco Grand Prix triumph.

How many F1 podiums does Pierre Gasly have?

Gasly has six Formula 1 podium finishes, including his 2020 victory.

His first podium came at the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix, shortly after his demotion from Red Bull to Toro Rosso. Starting sixth, Gasly fought his way to second and famously battled Lewis Hamilton to the finish line after Hamilton made contact with Alexander Albon.

Gasly added another podium in 2021 at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, finishing third for AlphaTauri.

He returned to the podium with Alpine at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, benefiting from a chaotic wet-weather race at Zandvoort to finish third.

Gasly then delivered another third-place finish at the 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix, helping Alpine secure a surprise double podium alongside Esteban Ocon.

His record therefore includes one win and five additional podium finishes.

Gasly's maiden pole now gives him another major statistic to add to his F1 record. It also underlines how significant his breakthrough moments have been despite spending most of his career outside the sport's dominant teams.

His 2020 Monza victory remains the defining achievement of his career, but his podiums at Interlagos, Baku, Zandvoort and Brazil have shown that the Frenchman can capitalise when the opportunity arises.

With a pole position now secured, Gasly will have another chance to add to his solitary F1 victory and six-podium tally.
