Lando Norris Clinches Maiden F1 Title: 2025 Final Drivers’ Standings

The 2025 Formula 1 season reached a thrilling conclusion under the lights of Yas Marina, where the championship fight went down to the very last lap. Three drivers-McLaren duo Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, along with Red Bull's Max Verstappen-arrived in Abu Dhabi with a mathematical shot at the title, but when the dust settled, history belonged to Norris.

Despite Verstappen dominating the final race and taking a comfortable win ahead of Norris and Piastri, the Red Bull star fell heartbreakingly short in the final points tally. Norris' P3 finish was just enough to secure the title by a narrow two-point margin, sealing his first-ever Drivers' Championship and etching his name alongside modern greats like Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Verstappen himself.

The pressure was immense from the start. Oscar Piastri made an aggressive early move past Norris, while Charles Leclerc hounded the McLaren driver throughout the race. With the championship scenario clear-Norris needed P3 or better-the Briton held his composure, defended when needed and ensured the points swung in his favour.

The season finale also shaped the Constructors' standings. McLaren completed a remarkable double, clinching both titles. Verstappen's victory secured third place in the team standings for Red Bull, while Mercedes sealed second after a steady race, helped by rookie Kimi Antonelli, who ended the season as the highest-scoring rookie with 150 points.

Elsewhere, Aston Martin and Racing Bulls were embroiled in a tight midfield scrap, but despite both Aston drivers finishing in the points, they fell short by just two points. Veteran Fernando Alonso capped his campaign with a top-10 finish, climbing ahead of Nico Hülkenberg and Isack Hadjar in the final rankings.

All 20 drivers reached the chequered flag-an unusual sight in a season full of unpredictability. With new regulations, a reshuffled grid and an 11th team joining the paddock in 2026, the sport now looks toward a fresh era.
