Lewis Hamilton Staying at Ferrari? Fred Vasseur Gives Definitive Answer

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has ended speculation surrounding Lewis Hamilton's future by confirming the seven-time Formula 1 world champion will remain with the Scuderia for the 2027 season.

Lewis Hamilton's long-term future at Ferrari has officially been put beyond doubt.

After weeks of speculation over the Briton's contract, Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur confirmed ahead of the British Grand Prix that Hamilton will continue racing for the Italian outfit next season.

The announcement comes as Hamilton continues his resurgence in red, having recently claimed his maiden Ferrari victory before topping Friday practice at Silverstone.

Vasseur confirms Lewis Hamilton's future

Speaking to Corriere della Sera, Vasseur was asked directly whether Hamilton would remain at Ferrari in 2027.

His response left little room for doubt. "Yes."

The Ferrari boss also explained why he believes Hamilton is now thriving after initially finding life difficult following his switch from Mercedes.

"Last year, I underestimated the scale of the transition from Mercedes to Ferrari. Everything was new to him and Lewis isn't one of those drivers who moves team every two or three years."

According to Vasseur, Hamilton's growing familiarity with the team has been key to his improved performances.

"He knows the tools, the people and our approach now. And with these good results, he's entered a virtuous circle."

Ferrari dismisses claims car was built around Hamilton

Vasseur also rejected suggestions that Ferrari's current challenger had been developed specifically to suit Hamilton's driving style.

"Not at all, we don't tailor our F1 cars to one driver or another."

The statement comes amid comparisons between Hamilton and teammate Charles Leclerc, with both drivers continuing to push Ferrari's development in different ways.

Lewis Hamilton enjoying strong run of form

The confirmation follows one of Hamilton's strongest periods since joining Ferrari.

The 41-year-old recently secured his first victory for the Scuderia before carrying that momentum into Silverstone by setting the fastest time during Friday practice.

His improved form has helped quieten early-season doubts over the blockbuster move from Mercedes and strengthened Ferrari's belief that the partnership can continue delivering results.

Lewis Hamilton to feature in Silverstone parade

Ferrari also confirmed that Hamilton is expected to take part in Formula 1's pre-race Lego car parade alongside teammate Charles Leclerc before Sunday's British Grand Prix.

The event has received a mixed response from several drivers, some of whom have questioned the increasing number of promotional activities during race weekends.

For Hamilton, however, the biggest news ahead of his home Grand Prix is that his future is now settled, with Ferrari publicly confirming that the seven-time world champion will remain part of the Scuderia's plans for the 2027 Formula 1 season.
