The race began under dry conditions after concerns about rain subsided. Marc Marquez took the lead from the start, with Fabio Di Giannantonio making a strong move from sixth to third. Marco Bezzecchi initially held second but soon found himself in a battle with Di Giannantonio and others.

Pedro Acosta's hopes for a podium ended with a crash at Turn 2 while he was in fifth place. This incident allowed Bagnaia to move up to fifth as Alex Marquez pursued Bezzecchi for third. Meanwhile, Marc Marquez extended his lead significantly by consistently lapping faster than his competitors.

As the race progressed, Di Giannantonio and Bezzecchi were involved in incidents that ended their races prematurely. Di Giannantonio crashed at Turn 1 on Lap 18, followed by Johann Zarco at the same corner. These crashes promoted Alex Marquez to third and Bagnaia to fourth.

With several contenders out of the race, Marc Marquez maintained a comfortable lead over his brother Alex, who was nursing an injured hand. Bagnaia secured third place after a challenging weekend. The Sachsenring proved difficult for many riders, with multiple crashes occurring at Turn 1.

The top ten finishers included Fabio Quartararo in fourth and Fermin Aldeguer in fifth. Luca Marini achieved his best result for Honda HRC Castrol by finishing sixth. Brad Binder and Jack Miller followed closely behind in seventh and eighth positions, respectively.
