McLaren at 1000 F1 Races: Every Major Record Ahead of Historic Monaco Grand Prix Milestone
When the lights go out at the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend, it will not just mark another race in Formula 1 history.
It will be McLaren's 1000th Formula 1 Grand Prix start: a milestone achieved by only the second team in the sport's history after Ferrari.

Nearly six decades after founder Bruce McLaren entered the team's first race at Monaco in 1966, the Woking-based outfit arrives back in the Principality as Formula 1's reigning Constructors' Champion and one of the most successful teams the sport has ever seen.
From Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost to Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris, McLaren's story is filled with championship-winning drivers, iconic cars and record-breaking moments.

2026 Monaco GP holds special significance
The milestone feels fitting because McLaren's Formula 1 story began in Monaco.
Bruce McLaren drove the team's first-ever Formula 1 race in the Principality on 22 May 1966 in the revolutionary M2B.
The debut ended in retirement after an oil leak, but it laid the foundation for everything that followed.
Sixty years later, McLaren returns to Monaco as Formula 1's benchmark team, with reigning world champion Lando Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri leading another title challenge.
McLaren reveals special Monaco livery for race No. 1000
McLaren will also celebrate the occasion with a special one-off livery at Monaco.
While the team's trademark papaya orange and black colours remain, the MCL39 will feature a unique chequered-flag-inspired graphic across the sidepods - a nod to the finish line that has defined McLaren's journey through 1,000 Grands Prix.
The number 1000 will be displayed prominently on the engine cover, while additional commemorative details will appear on the drivers' race suits throughout the weekend.
Unlike some dramatic special liveries seen in recent years, McLaren has opted for a subtle tribute that honours the achievement without abandoning the visual identity that has helped define its modern success.
From Bruce McLaren to Lando Norris
The story of McLaren's first 1,000 races has included championship dynasties, heartbreaking setbacks, technological innovations and some of Formula 1's greatest drivers.
Now, as the team prepares for race number 1,000 at the same venue where it all started, McLaren's focus remains on adding to those numbers rather than simply celebrating them.
And with Norris and Piastri currently leading another championship fight, the next chapter may be just as successful as the first.
