New hope for Narain to get back to F1 racing

Chennai, Apr 3 (UNI) Formula One test driver Narain Karthikeyan is confident he would be back in F1 racing soon as his current stint with Team Williams will help him evolve into a good F1 driver in future.

Addressing the faculty members and students of the Department of Engineering design at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) here, Narain said he had learnt many 'driving' lessons from his current stint with the nine time champions Williams F1 team.

Thirty year-old Narain, often described as the Fastest Indian', said when he began with the Jordan F1 team, everything was different despite the fact that he entered the F1 racing after going through various stages in racing.

As a beginner he could not understand anything in the first few months but slowly he picked up. It was such a big eye opener for him, he recollected.

Narain, who also inaugurated the Vehicles dynamics laboratory of the IIT said it would be a dream come true for millions of F1 fans if India gets to stage a race.

He would also support industrialist and Formula 3 car driver, Vijay Mallya's move for getting F1 races to India.

When Malaysia and China could have F1 races why not India? he asked, adding Delhi could be an ideal venue.

On the proposal of street circuit,'' he said it looked a more practical proposal to him.
