Snetterton (UK), Oct 10: The promising Indian motor racing talent, Sai Sanjay, left a strong impression in his first international stint by clinching the top spot in the GT Cup Championship 300 finale held at Snetterton, under the GTH division.
Throughout the weekend, Sai displayed his prowess by winning two races and securing P2 in the secondary feature event. In recognition of his breathtaking performance, he was named the 'Driver of the Day' amongst a grid of experienced racers.

On the initial day, Davies, his teammate, stole the limelight by putting the car in pole position, recording a best timing of 1:55:744, and eventually winning the weekend's first sprint event within 25:39.518.
For the weekend's premier feature race, Davies took the wheel first and post pit-stop, it was Sai who took over and maintained the lead with calm and composure to wrap up the race. The Racelab duo completed the 25-lap race in 51 minutes and 45.513 seconds and sped a best lap of 1:58.009.
On the subsequent day, the Salem-born racer, Sai, demonstrated his incredible speed in the #13 Racelab McLaren Artura with an electrifying third lap, clocking a 1:55:472 timing. This put him in a superior position, qualifying a whopping 1.4s faster than the nearest competitor, Hart's Morpheus Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 in the GTH group.
Sai bagged the second sprint race with a pole-to-finish win completed within 25:40.512, creating a commendable 30 seconds difference. The team ended in the runners-up position, registering a time of 51:31.167 in the Feature (Pit-Stop) race.
Davies made a fine start for Racelab but due to an unfortunate incident, had to settle for the second spot.Sai Sanjay, having his maiden appearance in sports cars, showed his qualifying run wasn’t merely a lucky stroke by securing a clear victory for the team.
"Contesting for the first time in the UK with a GT4 motor has been thrilling. Knowing my qualifying time would have placed me among the top-5 in the British GT Championship fills me with pride. In future, I intend to master the car at Silverstone while we had scarce track time prior to the race weekend," expressed Sai Sanjay.

Sai Sanjay, a 20-year-old student of Mechatronics from VIT, Chennai, drove in the GTH division for the first time. Sai, a recipient of the Indian National championship title of 2022 in the MRF Formula 2000 car category, was backed by his mentor Aditya Patel.
Aditya played a pivotal role in Sai debuting at the international level in the UK.The GT Cup Championship is a prestigious event in the UK sports car segment that accommodates a wide range of driving talents and an array of extraordinary fleets. Currently, Sai Sanjay and Team Racelab are all set for their trial run at Silverstone.
