Sergio Perez Remains Optimistic About Future At Red Bull Amid Performance Concerns

Despite facing scrutiny over his performance, Sergio Perez expresses confidence in turning things around with Red Bull. He aims to improve after a challenging season.

Sergio Perez remains hopeful about his future with Red Bull despite ongoing speculation about his performance. In Las Vegas, Perez experienced his sixth Q1 exit of the season, managing only a 10th-place finish. This season, he has achieved just four podiums, all in the first five races, and currently ranks eighth in the drivers' championship standings.

Perez signed a two-year extension with Red Bull in June and believes his form can improve. "I think with the set-up we are coming closer. In Vegas, we didn't have the pace that we had in Sao Paulo, but I think there are some promising signs that things are coming," Perez stated.

Perez Optimistic About Red Bull Future

The six-time race winner faces mounting pressure as Red Bull stands third in the constructors' championship, trailing McLaren by 53 points with two races and a Sprint session left. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen clinched his fourth consecutive drivers' title in Las Vegas.

Perez explained the difficulties outsiders face in understanding performance fluctuations between races: "I think it's very difficult for people to understand that are not part of team, or around on a daily basis, why from one race to another you are so far away," he said.

Perez reflected on his strong start to the year with four consecutive podiums. However, he noted a downturn upon returning to Europe as other teams improved while Red Bull struggled with their car's performance. "But I think it's how it is in Formula 1; sometimes things don't go your way," he remarked.

Perez remains optimistic about turning things around as a team for next year. He emphasized the importance of internal understanding within Red Bull: "We know exactly where we are in terms of performance, in terms of issues, difficulties that we've had."

The Mexican driver highlighted the team's commitment to overcoming challenges and improving their performance next season. "We are a team and we know exactly internally where everything stands," Perez added.
