Zarco scores a point in San Marino on foot

Monster Tech 3 Yamaha rider Johann Zarco continued his run of consecutive finishes in stunning fashion in Misano, ending the race on foot.

Misano, September 10: Johann Zarco has drawn plaudits for his bravery on the bike in his maiden MotoGP season, but the Frenchman took things to another level at Sunday's San Marino Grand Prix – running across the finish line with his Monster Yamaha Tech 3 machine.

Marc Marquez took a sensational win at Misano to deny Pramac Ducati and Danilo Petrucci maiden victories in the premier class, with Zarco on course for a commendable seventh-place finish in the wet before he ran into late trouble.

Commentators suggested that the 27-year-old run out of fuel, leaving him to cross the line on foot, pushing a 160-kilogram motorcycle.

As his midfield rivals bombed past on the home straight, Zarco incredibly managed to claim 15th spot – in the final point-paying position ahead of Loris Baz and Karel Abraham, who both fell at the World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

Zarco is sixth in the championship, having scored in each race since crashing out of first place on his debut in Qatar.
