The Adani Ahmedabad Marathon is set for 24 November 2024, marking its eighth edition. This annual event, organised by Adani Sportsline, is a key date in the city's sporting calendar. The marathon will feature top-notch security and medical arrangements, ensuring a safe experience for all participants. A new jersey was also launched for athletes during a recent media conference.

More than 20,000 runners are expected to participate in this year's marathon. The event includes various categories: the full marathon (42.195 km), half marathon (21.097 km), a 10 km run, and a 5 km run.
The course, certified by the Athletics Federation of India and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races, will cover iconic city landmarks like Atal Bridge and Gandhi Ashram.
On race day, over 21 medical booths will be strategically placed along the route with one critical station at the holding area. Additionally, there will be 21 hydration centres throughout the course. Volunteers will provide first aid or medication if needed. Quick response teams with ambulances are also on standby to handle emergencies.
The Ahmedabad City Police have committed to creating a secure environment for the marathon. Neeraj Badgujar, Additional Commissioner Sector 1, stated that officers would manage crowd control and traffic regulation efficiently. "We're prepared to handle any situation from crowd management to emergency response measures," he said.
This year introduces a sustainability drive where water bottles used during the event will be recycled into park benches. This initiative reflects the organisers' commitment to environmental responsibility while promoting athleticism.
The marathon is not just about running; it also honours India's armed forces through its #Run4OurSoldiers campaign. Over 3,000 armed officers and hundreds of police officers are expected to join as participants this year.
Race Director Dave Cundy expressed excitement about this year's course changes near the Sabarmati River. "The Adani Ahmedabad Marathon is a great celebration of athleticism," he said. "I am confident that we will see a memorable day on Sunday."
Dr Amir Sanghavi from KD Hospital emphasised the importance of knowing one's limits in endurance events like this marathon. He stated that comprehensive medical arrangements are in place along the track and at start/finish points.
Sanjay Adesara from Adani Sportsline highlighted their collaboration with local authorities for seamless execution: "We are delighted to receive such great support from the Police department and medical departments." He wished everyone success on race day.
The Adani Ahmedabad Marathon began in November 2017 as an initiative by Adani Group to support India's armed forces heroes through its unique campaign #Run4OurSoldiers. It has grown significantly since then with increasing participation each year.
