Hyderabad, Dec 13: National Award-winning actor Allu Arjun, known for his role in the blockbuster Pushpa 2, has been arrested in connection with the tragic stampede at Sandhya Theatre, Hyderabad, which resulted in the death of 39-year-old Revathi and left her 8-year-old son hospitalised.

The actor, on Friday (December 13), was taken to the Chikkadapally police station for questioning and subsequently presented at the Nampally Court.

On December 4, a massive crowd gathered at Sandhya Theatre to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun during a special screening of Pushpa 2. The situation spiralled out of control, leading to a stampede.

Revathi died due to asphyxiation, and her family later filed a complaint against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management, accusing them of negligence.

The police registered the case on December 5, and after an investigation, the actor was arrested. The Sandhya Theatre management's letter to the authorities, requesting additional security for the event, has since surfaced, raising questions about whether the tragedy could have been averted.

Allu Arjun Arrest: Court Proceedings

Allu Arjun was produced in the Nampally Court today, with the police seeking 14-day custody for further investigation. Justice Juvvadi Sridevi is presiding over the case. As of now, the court has granted the actor 14-day judicial custody.

Allu Arjun Family's Reaction

In a surprising turn, Revathi's husband, Bhaskar, announced his willingness to withdraw the case, stating that Allu Arjun was not directly responsible for the tragic incident. "I was not aware of the arrest, and I don't hold him accountable for my wife's death," Bhaskar said to the media.

Political and Industry Support

Allu Arjun's arrest has sparked widespread reactions, with actor-politician Pawan Kalyan and megastar Chiranjeevi expressing their support. Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who is also Arjun's uncle, rushed to his residence, while Chiranjeevi visited the family. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao condemned the arrest, calling it "high-handed behaviour" and highlighting the actor's lack of direct involvement.

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit and actor Varun Dhawan also voiced their support, emphasizing the need for better event management and security measures rather than targeting individual actors.

Allu Arjun's Statement

In a heartfelt video released on December 6, Allu Arjun expressed his condolences to Revathi's family and vowed to extend his full support to help them through this difficult time. "Deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident... I want to assure them they are not alone in this pain," he said.

What Lies Ahead

With the legal proceedings ongoing, Allu Arjun remains in judicial custody. The case has highlighted the importance of crowd management and event security, raising critical questions about accountability in the entertainment industry.
