The Dubai Sports Council (DSC) is collaborating with the Landmark Group to organise the "Beat Diabetes Walk."
H.E. Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of DSC, met with Ms Nisha Jagtiani, Director of Landmark Group, to discuss preparations for this event. The walk is a significant community initiative that attracts thousands of participants annually.

H.E. Saeed Hareb emphasised DSC's dedication to supporting community events. He stated, "We organise hundreds of community events every year at various destinations of Dubai targeting all classes in society, particularly the Beat Diabetes Walk; the annual prominent event which has been launched since 2009 as part of DSC’s strategy to support community initiatives & boost sports activities and to make the same as lifestyle in society, aiming to reduce diseases, improve individuals’ competence to deal with life’s daily burdens and enhance life’s quality."
The Beat Diabetes Walk aligns with the Year of the Community and aims to be the largest yet. This initiative has seen over 165,000 participants across 14 editions. The event focuses on raising awareness about diabetes and encouraging healthy lifestyles through sports activities.
Ms. Nisha Jagtiani highlighted the initiative's impact since its inception in 2009. She noted that it plays a crucial role in increasing awareness about diabetes prevention and management. The initiative has successfully organised 14 walkathons and conducted over 700,000 free blood sugar tests.
The Beat Diabetes Initiative collaborates with both public and private sectors. It has engaged more than 30,000 children through various programmes and established over 100 partnerships. The annual walkathon is a joint effort between private sector entities and government organisations.
During their meeting, H.E. Saeed Hareb took Ms. Jagtiani on a tour of DSC's facilities. They discussed the council's role in organising sports events and exchanged commemorative gifts as a gesture of goodwill between both parties.
