The Hero Indian Open (HIO) 2025 is set to witness one of the most formidable fields in the tournament’s history, with as many as 16 winners from the last and current DP World Tour (DPWT) seasons confirming their participation.
This marks a significant milestone for India’s national open, reflecting its growing prestige on the global golfing calendar. Defending champion Keita Nakajima of Japan will headline the event, which tees off on March 27, 2025, at the DLF Golf and Country Club.

Nakajima, who secured his maiden DPWT title at the HIO 2024, will be joined by a stellar lineup featuring 12 winners from the 2024 season and four champions from the ongoing 2025 season. Among them is Germany’s Marcel Siem, the 2023 HIO champion, who added another DPWT title to his name in 2024.
The confirmed DPWT winners bring an impressive mix of experience and form to the tournament:
Adding to the excitement, a strong contingent of Indian golfers will also be eyeing the coveted title and a share of the US$ 2.25 million prize purse.
Nakajima, 24, has been a rising force in international golf. A former World No. 1 amateur for a record 87 weeks, the Japanese star stormed onto the DPWT scene in 2024 after a dominant run on the Japan Tour. His victory at HIO 2024 saw him edge out India’s Veer Ahlawat, Sweden’s Sebastian Soderberg, and American Johannes Veerman, all of whom will be returning to challenge for the title this year.
Nakajima now has his sights set on making history by becoming the first back-to-back winner of the Hero Indian Open in nearly a decade. The last player to achieve this feat was India’s SSP Chawrasia in 2016 and 2017, following in the footsteps of Jyoti Randhawa (2006-2007) and Japan’s Kenji Hosoishi (1967-1968).
The tournament will also feature American Ollie Schniederjans, another former World No. 1 amateur, who held the top ranking for 41 weeks in 2014-15. Recently, Schniederjans ended a nine-year title drought by winning the International Series India, which was played at the same venue.
Adding further depth to the competition is Spain’s Eugenio Chacarra, a 24-year-old sensation who was ranked World No. 2 amateur in 2022 and has since won two international titles.
The Hero Indian Open 2025 promises to be an electrifying spectacle, with golf fans getting an opportunity to witness some of the finest talents in the sport. Entry to the event will be free and open to all, as the prestigious DLF Golf and Country Club hosts the tournament for the seventh time.
With an elite field, a historic venue, and a strong Indian challenge, the stage is set for one of the most thrilling editions of the Hero Indian Open to date.
