IPL 2026: Raj Kundra makes Cryptic 'Karma' Tweet after Rajasthan Royals' Playoffs Exit

Former Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra stirred controversy with a cryptic social media post shortly after the franchise’s elimination from IPL 2026, minutes following their defeat in Qualifier 2 against Gujarat Titans.

Rajasthan Royals posted a competitive 214/6 in Qualifier 2, powered by young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's explosive 96 and a late cameo from Donovan Ferreira. However, Gujarat Titans chased down the target with ease, reaching 219/3 in just 18.4 overs. Shubman Gill's century and a strong opening stand with Sai Sudharsan sealed a seven-wicket victory for GT, who advanced to the final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

RR had qualified for the playoffs in fourth place and defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator, but their campaign ended in New Chandigarh amid a dramatic toss controversy that required a re-toss.

In the tweet posted, Kundra wrote: “Some losses are bigger than the points table. Karma has its own playoffs.”

The message, which quickly drew mixed reactions, appeared to allude to RR’s playoff exit despite a competitive league stage campaign in the IPL 2026 season.

Kundra’s Tangled History with RR

Raj Kundra, along with his wife Shilpa Shetty, acquired an 11.7% stake in Rajasthan Royals in 2009. His involvement ended amid the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal, leading to a lifetime ban from the BCCI and the franchise’s two-year suspension. The couple exited their stake in 2015.

Kundra has since been locked in a prolonged legal battle with the franchise’s promoters, primarily Manoj Badale’s Emerging Media Ventures. He claims ongoing entitlement to his 11.7% stake and alleges oppression, mismanagement, fund siphoning, and financial irregularities. He has approached the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), written to the BCCI, and challenged related proceedings in Indian and UK courts.

Public and Fan Reactions

Kundra’s tweet drew sharp responses from users, many referencing his past legal troubles, betting allegations, and adult content ventures. Critics questioned his moral authority to comment on “karma,” while some saw it as continued venting over ownership grievances.
