IPL Bulletin For April 11: From Unbeaten DC Hand RCB Another Home Loss to MS Dhoni Returns as Captain of CSK

By MyKhel Staff

Delhi Capitals remained perfect and handed Royal Challengers Bengaluru another reality check as the rivalry week of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 18 continued on Thursday (April 10).

RCB's struggles to make M Chinnaswamy Stadium a fortress is open to see as they suffered another loss at home despite making strong away performances at venues where they earlier failed to win.

IPL bulletin on April 11 2025

In a battle of the DC spinners vs the RCB spin-hitting line up, the former emerged winners as the Delhi Capitals spin duo put the choke on after the fast start of Royal Challengers Bengaluru before a familiar face returned to haunt the home side.

While DC and RCB battled on the field in Bengaluru, there was big news coming out from the neighbouring state as a veteran returns to lead the side. Here is a look at the IPL Bulletin For April 11:

Delhi Capitals extend unbeaten start to season

Delhi Capitals extended their unbeaten run to four following a 6-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru. DC remain the only perfect side so far this season, having registered wins over Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings and now RCB.

Chasing 164 on a slightly tricky surface, Rahul scored an unbeaten 93 off 53 balls to guide his side to a six-wicket win with thirteen balls to spare. The Capitals crossed the 100-run mark in 14.1 overs and reached 150 in 17.3 overs, wrapping up the chase at 169/4 in 17.5 overs

Royal Challengers Bengaluru lose two in two at home

Rajat Patidar's RCB have notched up three away wins against Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians in their own backyards, but the Bengaluru-based side have lost two in two at their own home venue.

RCB suffered an 8-wicket loss to Gujarat Titans in their first home match of the season, when they failed to defend 169. Now, their second failure is also an unsuccessful defence of a score around 160 plus, which is not enough at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Local lad KL Rahul returns to haunt RCB

Rahul returned to his home ground in M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where he scored his third fifty in IPL and scored a match-winning knock for DC against RCB before calling the venue - "this is my ground, nobody knows it better than me."

Rahul bagged his second successive player of the match after a second straight fifty. While he scored 77 against CSK last week, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter smashed an unbeaten 93 off 53 balls against his former side RCB.

Spin duo Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam choke RCB batting line up

After RCB got off the blocks in a hurry, scoring 53 in the first three overs, Axar Patel introduced leg-spinner Vipraj into the attack and the uncapped star put the chokers on and created pressure as Phil Salt perished.

The leggie then removed Virat Kohli before Kuldeep dictated terms with his chinaman removing two of RCB's best batters of spin - the in-form duo of Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma. Vipraj then returned to dismiss Krunal Pandya when RCB tried to steady the closing stages. The duo finished with 2 wickets each and applied the squeeze on RCB.

Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out for remainder the season

Ruturaj Gaikwad's hopes of helping Chennai Super Kings out of turbulent waters were crushed by a stroke of misfortune on Thursday (April 10), as the CSK skipper was ruled out for the remainder of IPL 2025 due to a hairline fracture in his elbow.

The Maharashtra batter sustained the injury during their match against Rajasthan Royals when he was struck flush on the unprotected elbow by Tushar Deshpande's short-pitched delivery.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni returns as captain of CSK

MS Dhoni is set to lead CSK in IPL 2025 season following Gaikwad's exclusion due to an injury. This highlights his comeback as captain for the first time since he led the team to victory in the final of the IPL 2023 against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Dhoni possesses an impressive record as an IPL captain. He has guided CSK and Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) to 133 victories out of 226 games, achieving a win percentage of 58. 84, and he has steered CSK to five IPL championships in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023.

KKR vice captain downplays team only succeeds in certain conditions

Kolkata Knight Riders have relied heavily on their spin pair Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine to deliver with the ball and also have made it public that the Eden Gardens wicket does not suit their strengths.

But vice captain Venkatesh Iyer downplayed the notion that KKR specifically seeks favorable conditions ahead of the team's outing at the Chepauk against Chennai Super Kings.

South Africa's Corbin Bosch earns PSL ban after pulling out and joining IPL

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended South Africa allrounder Corbin Bosch from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for one year as a consequence for pulling out of this year's tournament after being selected at the draft.

Bosch, who was a diamond pick for Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL draft, was subsequently signed as an injury replacement by Mumbai Indians (MI) in the current IPL.
