The first rivalry week of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 18 concluded with an absolute brain fade from the season's unbeaten side in their game at their original home venue.
The Arun Jaitley Stadium witnessed a thrilling contest as Mumbai Indians plucked victory from the jaws of defeat against the in-form Delhi Capitals side with a couple of Impact Substitutes having telling impacts.

On course for their fifth win in five, DC suffered a batting collapse and handed over the game to MI, who were desperate to get their campaign back on track, having lost four in five previous matches of the season.
Before DC and MI clashed in a classic, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who can't buy a win at home, continued their dominance away from home, a feat which Chennai Super Kings will also like to emulate as they aim for a turnaround. Here is a look at the IPL Bulletin For April 14:
Five-time champions Mumbai Indians halted Delhi Capitals' perfect start to the season of four wins in four with a 12-run victory after losing their previous two games in IPL 2025 by the same margin.
After Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir knocks powered MI to a challenging total of 204, spinners Karn Sharma and Mitchell Santner played crucial roles with the ball to survive a Karun Nair show with the bat and sealed the win for their side.
Chasing 23 off 12 balls, Delhi Capitals had brain fade moments in the penultimate over bowled by Jasprit Bumrah as Ashutosh Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohit Sharma all fell to run outs off back-to-back deliveries to lose the match by 12 runs and 1 over to spare.
With this win, Mumbai Indians made it 15 out of 15 in terms of defending a 200 plus total in Indian Premier League history. This was also the tenth time in 12 attempts that a 200 plus target has been defended successfully in IPL 2025.
While Karun Nair made the initial impact coming in at number three, replacing pacer Mukesh Kumar in the Delhi Capital batting order, the game changer emerged from the Mumbai Indians camp as Karn Sharma changed the match in Mumbai Indians' favour.
Coming in as a sub for Rohit Sharma at the end of powerplay, Karn made a telling impact in his second over by ending the 119-run stand between Abhishek Porel and Karun Nair in the 11th over by removing the former for 33.
The forgotten Indian leg spinner then went on to add the important scalps of Tristan Stubbs and KL Rahul in quick succession to turn the tide completely as MI bowling took advantage and applied more pressure to seal the win. Karn Sharma then bagged the player of the match award for his spell of 3 for 36.
Playing in the IPL for the first time in three years, Karun scored his first fifty in seven years, coming in as impact substitute in the very first over following the first-ball duck of Jake Fraser-McGurk.
Karun, who came into the season on the back of rich domestic form for Vidharba, smashed Mumbai Indians bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah all over the park to race to a fifty. However, a peach of a delivery from Mitchell Santner ended his stay at 89 off 40 balls with his dismissal also resulting in DC's collapse, which saw his knock go in vain.
Yet to win at home this season, Royal Challengers Bengaluru remained perfect on the road as they registered their fourth straight away win in IPL 2025, beating Rajasthan Royals by 9 wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
After an all-round bowling effort helped restrict the Royals to 173 in their own backyard, Phil Salt and Virat Kohli fifties ensured that RCB made light work of the chase as they reached the target with 15 balls to spare.
With an unbeaten fifty against Rajasthan Royals, RCB's star India batter Kohli equalled former Australian batter David Warner's record of most 50-plus scores in the IPL. Both Virat and Warner have 66 50s to their names in 250 and 184 innings, respectively.
Padikkal scored an unbeaten 40 in RCB's chase, sharing a stand with Kohli to ensure his team victory. The Karnataka batter in the process achieved a unique record by becoming only the second Indian batter to score 1000 runs for the Bengaluru-based side in IPL.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming said that after five successive losses, the five-time champions will be working with stand-in skipper MS Dhoni to turn things around, but the legend is not a "soothsayer" and does not have a "magic wand".
The Chennai Super Kings has made one of their worst starts to an IPL campaign, losing five in six outings, including two defeats at home, which was once a fortress. The MS Dhoni-led side will now look to end the unfortunate streak when they face LSG, who have a 3-1 record against the Chennai-based outfit.
Having started the season with two defeats in three matches, Rishabh Pant's LSG have turned things around as they have registered a hattrick of wins, including two at home against Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans.
Now, they will look to make their home venue, a fortress when they host another champion side in CSK. If successful against Chennai Super Kings, LSG will climb up to the top spot in the early playoff race at least until the other challengers feature later this week.
