Week four of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 18 has continued to deliver classics as Arun Jaitley Stadium witnessed the first super over of the season with run outs having a telling say again in the Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals thriller.
After a hattrick of run outs cost them dearly in their first home outing in Delhi, DC were at the right end on Wednesday (April 16) night as Royals succumbed to some splendid death bowling, which led to the contest being decided in a super over eliminator.

The high-octane clash in Delhi unfortunately also saw two key players leave the field with injury as records - unwanted and elusive were shattered in the IPL 2025 match 32 setting the platform for another mouth-watering encounter on Thursday (April 17) in Mumbai.
The Wankhede Stadium will stage a crucial tie between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad as the two sides look to push from the bottom four on the points table. Here is a look at the IPL Bulletin for April 17:
Nitish Rana and Yashasvi Jaiswal had put RR well on course to chase down 189, but DC tied the contest defending 31 runs in the last three overs thanks to Starc's death bowling heroics.
With momentum on their side, DC restricted RR to 11 in the Super Over before clinching the tie in four balls to get back to the top of the IPL 2025 standings. Royals, meanwhile, remained in eighth.
Mitchell Starc's brilliance in the 20th over helped Delhi Capitals avoid a second successive defeat at home. Defending nine runs from the last over, Starc stepped up with some brilliant death bowling as he found the yorker consistently and conceded only eight runs, taking the match to a super over.
Before the final over heroics, Starc removed the in-form Nitish Rana with a terrific yorker in the 18th over to turn the game in Delhi Capitals favour when RR were cruising to a victory at the Kotla.
In the Super over, Starc resumed from where he left off restricting RR to 11/2, setting a target of just 12 runs for DC. KL Rahul and Trishan Stubbs got the job done for DC, getting to target in just 4 balls of the super over bowled by Sandeep Sharma.
In the final over of the chase, Dhruv Jurel declined a double in the penultimate ball before falling to run out in the final ball attempting a double to win the match. While that one run saw the game head into the super over, RR made some questionable calls in the one over eliminator.
Instead of sending in Rana and Jaiswal, who had batted well in the chase, RR opted for Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag to bat in the super over as the duo were involved in run outs.
Parag, who had struggled to get going in the run chase, found a boundary off Starc, but could not capitalize off a free hit and what was worse is, he ended up being run out after failing to connect. Jaiswal did arrive at number three, but even the RR opener was run out without facing a delivery.
This was the fifteenth super over in Indian Premier League history and it was the fifth featuring the Delhi-based side. DC, who had won the Super Over thrice including the last three, made it four super over wins on the trot as RR suffered their second super over loss in four.
Rajasthan Royals pacer Sandeep Sharma created an unwanted record in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by becoming the fourth bowler to bowl an 11-ball over. This happened in the 20th over of DC innings as he bowled four wide balls and a no ball in the over. Mohammed Siraj, Tushar Deshpande and Shardul Thakur are the other bowlers to bowl 11 balls in an over.
Delhi Capitals may have suffered a blow during their thrilling win over Rajasthan Royals as spinner Kuldeep Yadav hobbled off the field due to a shoulder injury. Kuldeep suffered the injury while putting in a dive to save a boundary at deep fine leg and left the field with the physio.
RR captain Sanju Samon was forced to retire hurt after suffering a side strain in the sixth over of the second innings. Samson's absence cost his team as it lost the contest in a Super Over.
Samson experienced pain on the left side of his torso while trying to pull leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam. He resumed batting after being attended to by the team physio, but his stay lasted for just one delivery before he left the field. The wicketkeeper-batter, however, confirmed he's feeling better after the match.
After snapping a slide, bottom half of the table side, MI and SRH will aim to keep the winning momentum as they look to push closer to the top four when the two former champions face off at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday (April 17).
Mumbai Indians pulled off a stunning win over DC in their previous encounter to stop a two-game winless run, while SRH chased down the second highest total against Punjab Kings to stop a four-match losing streak.
