Indian Premier League (IPL) season 18 revenge week opened with two teams earning retribution against their opponents as Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) claimed crucial wins.
After missing their star players Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah in the tournament opening loss, a full-strength Mumbai Indians got the better of their rivals in the second El Clasico of IPL 2025.

Less than 48 hours from crumbling in front of their home crowd, RCB got the better of the same opponents - Punjab Kings in their own backyard to remain unbeaten on the road this season.
Two stalwarts of the game went on to put player of the match performances to keep their teams alive in the playoff race, which is something the defending champions also will be aiming to do on Monday (April 21). Here is a look at the IPL Bulletin for April 21:
Impressive half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav helped Mumbai Indians avenge the season-opening loss against their long time rivals with a thumping nine-wicket win over CSK in a one-sided contest at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
With this win, MI claimed their third successive wins to keep their top four hopes alive, while the result also meant CSK suffered their sixth loss in eight outings with their playoff chances also taking a huge hit.
With much talk around his form, Rohit stepped up against familiar foe by smashing an unbeaten 76 off 45 balls, his first fifty of the season following a run of poor scores in the first seven outings. This match-winning knock helped the former captain win his 20th man of the match award in IPL.
Rohit Sharma surpassed Shikhar Dhawan to become the second-highest run-getter in the Indian Premier League as his fifty of the IPL 2025 season took his overall tally to 6,786 runs in 259 innings. He has outdone Shikhar, who had made 6,769 runs in 222 IPL matches.
The all-time run-getter in IPL history is the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli, who has made 8,326 runs at an average of 39.27 and a strike rate of 132.26, with eight centuries and 59 fifties.
Just 24 hours after Vaibhav Suryavanshi scripted history as the youngest to play in IPL at 14, his under-19 teammate Ayush Mhatre became the youngest player to represent the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
Mhatre, at 17 years and 278 days, is the youngest to represent the rich history of the Super Kings in the cash-rich league. He surpassed Abhinav Mukund, who made his debut for CSK at the age of 18 years and 139 days in 2008. In his debut for one of the most successful franchises, Mhatre impressed with a flashy cameo of 32 off 15 balls.
After a batting collapse resulted in RCB's third loss of the season on Friday (April 18), the Bengaluru-based side put on a spectacular performance in all departments to get the revenge against Punjab Kings in their own backyard.
Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal scored fifties to help RCB chase down 158 with 7 wickets and 7 balls to spare at the New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur, where Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma overshadowed PBKS spinners, who had played a major role in Rajat Patidar side's downfall in Bengaluru.
With the third fifty of the season, Kohli bagged the player of the match award for the first time in the ongoing campaign and moved to 19 man of the match awards overall.
His unbeaten 73 off 54 balls also saw him break David Warner's record for most 50-plus scores in IPL. The fifty against PBKS was his 67th fifty-plus scores in the lucrative league.
While they struggle to read home conditions and are winless in three, RCB extended their unbeaten record on the road with a fifth successive away win in the ongoing season.
RCB suffered home defeats to Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings, but the Bengaluru-based side has registered wins at the homes of Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals and now PBKS.
Ajinkya Rahane's KKR will look to bounce back after suffering a batting collapse in the run chase of 112 against PBKS last week. But the defending champions will be up against the table-toppers Gujarat Titans on Monday (April 21) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
