IPL Bulletin For March 30: GT Maintain Home Streak Against MI to Potential DC Debut For KL Rahul

By MyKhel Staff

The eighteenth edition of the Indian Premier League is into it's second week, which promises even more high-voltage and thrilling matchup featuring some of the top T20 talent across the world.

The first week concluded with joint-record champions Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians failing to chase down the same target in successive days, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru made it two in two and Gujarat Titans opened their account.

IPL Bulletin on March 30

Mumbai Indians welcomed back regular captain Hardik Pandya, but the star Indian all-rounder could not help his team to their first win against his former team. Plus, there were a couple of injury concerns at Friday's game in which an Indian pacer emerged the game-changer.

Ahead of Sunday's double header there was news of a possible franchise debut for a star Indian batter, while Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad coaches reflected on their campaign and what could be in store. Here is a look at the IPL Bulletin For March 30:

Gujarat Titans open their account, hand Mumbai Indians second loss

Fiery bowling spells by Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj and a half-century by Sai Sudharsan were the highlights as Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 36 runs at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

B Sai Sudharsan continued his impressive run, scoring 63 off 41 balls to take GT to 196 in their allotted 20 overs. In response, MI managed to reach 160 after Prasidh and Siraj claimed two wickets each to land GT's first win of the season.

Gujarat Titans maintain unbeaten streak at home against Mumbai Indians

Having bounced back from a defeat to Punjab Kings in their opener, GT has added two points to the tally. Also, they continue their impeccable record of 4-0 against MI at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, improving their overall head-to-head record to 4-2.

Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, remained winless in two, having lost their campaign opener against Chennai Super Kings last week at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Prasidh Krishna emerges as game changer for GT

Prasidh Krishna played a crucial role in restricting Mumbai's batting lineup, finishing with figures of 2/18 in his four overs. His spell included the key wickets of Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav, which tilted the game in Gujarat's favour. Krishna received his first-ever player of the match award in the IPL following that performance.

Sai Sudharsan suffers injury in GT vs MI

Gujarat Titans suffered a big blow during their victory over Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad as in-form batter B Sai Sudarshan was forced off the field with what look like a possible hamstring injury.

In the final delivery of the ninth over, the youngster dived to save a boundary at long leg. But the dive proved to be costly as the Tamil Nadu star was seen holding his left hamstring. He was then taken off the field by the team physio, but the extent of his injury is yet to be revealed.

Shubman Gill completes 1000 runs at Narendra Modi Stadium

GT captain Shubman Gill became the first player to score 1000 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in IPL. In the process, he also became the second-quickest to 1000 IPL runs at a single venue.

Gill reached the landmark in just 20 innings, 1 innings more than the legendary Chris Gayle, who achieved the feat at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Gayle had reached 1000 runs in just 19 innings.

KL Rahul set for Delhi Capitals debut

Rahul is all set to make his first appearance for Delhi Capitals following his Rs 14 crore acquisition by the franchise at the IPL Mega Auction last year. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter missed DC's opener to attend the birth of his first child.

He has linked up with the team now after missing DC's thrilling win over his former team Lucknow Super Giants in the season opener, but is available to face Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium in Vizag on Sunday (March 30).

SRH Spin bowling coach Muralitharan feels 300 not impossible

While there is much debate around the 300-run mark being a possibility in IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad spin bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan feels the total is not impossible for his team to achieve but believes two batters need to fire.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of the clash against DC in Visakhapatnam, Muralitharan expressed confidence that the team has the firepower to become the first IPL side to reach 300, having already got closer with 287 and 286 totals so far.

RR head coach Rahul Dravid backs batters to fire

Rajasthan Royals are winless in two and occupy the bottom spot on the IPL 2025 points table. While their batting kind of fired in the opening game loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad, they struggled in their first home game in Guwahati against Kolkata Knight Riders.

However, head coach Rahul Dravid defended his batting unit featuring the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shubham Dubey and Shimron Hetmyer, to come good ahead of their clash against Chennai Super Kings at the Barsapara Stadium on Sunday (March 30).
