Jesus de Miguel Passes Away: Tenerife confirms tragic death of Footballer after Collision with Goalkeeper
Spanish football has been left mourning following the death of CD Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel Alameda, who passed away at the age of 30 on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
The forward suffered a serious injury following a collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono during a Spanish Segunda Division fixture on Monday. Despite emergency medical intervention and hospital treatment, he could not be saved.

What happened to Jesus de Miguel?
The incident occurred during the closing stages of Tenerife's match against FC Andorra at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium. With the score tied at 2-2, the match had entered stoppage time when a long ball prompted both De Miguel and Andorra goalkeeper Owono to challenge for possession.
De Miguel was moving forward from midfield to initiate a counter-attack when Owono rushed out of his penalty area to intercept the ball. During the challenge, the goalkeeper's knee struck the Tenerife forward in the chest, leaving him motionless on the pitch.
Players from both teams immediately called for medical assistance as De Miguel remained unconscious. The referee subsequently showed Owono a straight red card, while the match was abandoned in the 108th minute to allow medical personnel to attend to the injured footballer.
Medical staff treated De Miguel on the pitch for more than five minutes before he was transported to hospital by ambulance.
According to reports from Spanish media, the striker suffered a cardiac arrest during the journey to the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Emergency personnel managed to restore his pulse through resuscitation efforts.
Tenerife initially confirmed that De Miguel had been admitted to the intensive care unit in a stable condition, despite the severity of his injuries. However, his neurological condition subsequently deteriorated. The club confirmed his death at 8 AM local time on November 3, ending hopes of his recovery.
