Denis Law, a Manchester United and Scotland icon, has died at the age of 84, his family announced via Man United.
Diagnosed with dementia in 2021, Law's family shared: "It is with a heavy heart that we tell you our father Denis Law has sadly passed away. He fought a tough battle but is now at peace. We thank everyone who supported and loved him; that love made a difference."

Known as "The King of the Stretford End," Law is one of United's most celebrated players. United's statement paid tribute, saying, "With 237 goals in 404 appearances, he will always be remembered as one of the club's greatest. His flair, spirit, and love for the game made him a hero of his generation."
Law is forever linked with George Best and Bobby Charlton, forming a legendary trio that helped United win league titles in 1965 and 1967, and the European Cup in 1968. His 46 goals during the 1963-64 season remain a club record for a single campaign.
A proud Scot, Law shared the national record of 30 goals with Kenny Dalglish, achieved in just 55 appearances. His performance for Scotland against England in 1967, a 3-2 win, remains one of his most cherished moments.
Law's career ended in 1974, but his legacy endured. In 2016, he was honored as a Commander of the British Empire for his contributions to soccer and charity. Reflecting on his dementia diagnosis, Law stated, "It is a challenging disease... I recognise how my brain is deteriorating, and this causes me distress in situations beyond my control."
