Vinay Bhartia, co-founder of 26Ideas, shared his vision behind the Walkathon, emphasizing the event's core mission to transform walking into a grand celebration of community, health, and joy.
"The Walkathon is a carnival of connection, where every step tells a story and brings us closer to good health, joy, and unity," Bhartia remarked, underlining the essence of #JustWalkIndia. This initiative goes beyond the physical act of walking, aiming to celebrate personal stories, community bonds, and the pursuit of a healthier lifestyle.
John Gloster, the head physiotherapist for the Rajasthan Royals and an advisor to #JustWalkIndia, hailed walking as a universal solution to a multitude of modern health issues.
From improving bone and cognitive health to combating obesity and diabetes, Gloster views walking as both a remedy and a protective measure against stress and life's myriad challenges. His sentiment echoes the age-old advice that a simple walk can significantly uplift one's mood and overall health.
The event will be led by Kapil Arora, a Juhu resident, Ironman triathlete, and Guinness record holder, serving as the Chief Walker. Arora's involvement underscores the Walkathon's goal to rekindle the appreciation for walking as a means to achieve a healthier, happier, and more connected existence.
Participants can look forward to a well-organized event, complete with timing, bibs, T-shirts, finisher medals, post-walk breakfast, and on-course support, ensuring an enriching experience for all.
K. Radhakrishnan, another co-founder of 26 Ideas, stressed the significance of walking for maintaining health. He supports that while one cannot "outrun your diet," walking daily, even in small spaces like a car park, can lead to transformative health benefits. Radhakrishnan's endorsement of the Walkathon resonates with a broader message: the pursuit of progress and wealth loses its meaning without good health.
