Rajasthan Royals up for sale before IPL 2026? LSG owner's brother hints Four-Party Bid for RR

Rajasthan Royals are reportedly up for sale ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, following the same path as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the 2025 IPL champions, who have already been put on the market by their current owners.

Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka's elder brother Harsh Goenka has claimed that the Royals are also up for grabs, as he announced it on social media. Harsh wrote on X on Thursday, claiming that there are suitors for the franchise, and the Royals may have multiple parties eyeing to buy them.

"I hear, not one, but two IPL teams are now up for sale- RCB and RR. It seems clear that people want to cash in the rich valuations today. So two teams for sale and 4/5 possible buyers! Who will be the successful buyers- will it be from Pune, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru or USA?"

RCB, owned by Diageo, has set a valuation of around $2 billion for the franchise, a price boosted by their maiden IPL title win in 2025. The sale process officially started in early November 2025, with potential bidders including a consortium of wealthy individuals such as Nikhil Kamath, TV Mohandas Pai, and Adar Poonawalla, whose combined net worth is nearly $25 billion. Despite being up for sale, RCB will continue participating in auctions and tournaments until the new ownership is finalized.

Similarly, Rajasthan Royals, originally owned by Royals Sports Group with key minority stakeholders like Lachlan Murdoch and RedBird Capital Partners, are now seeking new ownership as well. This sale follows after some roster changes such as trading Sanju Samson, signaling a significant ownership transition before IPL 2026 begins.
