Sachin Yadav, India's rising javelin thrower, has made waves with back-to-back record-breaking performances. Last month, the 25-year-old from Uttar Pradesh clinched gold at the National Games 2025 in Uttarakhand, setting a new meet record with a massive 84.39m throw at the Ganga Athletics Ground.
This achievement places him among India's top five all-time javelin throwers, alongside Neeraj Chopra, Kishore Jena, Shivpal Singh, and Davinder Kang. However, Sachin's best effort still falls just short of the 85.50m World Athletics Championships 2025 qualifying mark. Despite this, he remains optimistic about improving his throw.

Despite his rapid rise, Sachin remains humble. Reflecting on back-to-back meet records at the All India Police Meet and National Games, he told myKhel: "My throw (84.21m) at the All-India Police Meet wasn't officially recognized, but it helped me analyze my performance. The National Games was my second meet record and a personal best. My coach is guiding my next steps, and I'll aim for World Championship qualification."
Competing against top Indian throwers like Asian Championships medalist and Tokyo Olympian Shivpal Singh and 2022 World Championships finalist Rohit Yadav at the National Games, Sachin thrives under competition but doesn't let pressure get to him "I don't think about being a favorite. I compete against myself, not others. After my first throw at the National Games, I twisted my ankle. The pain was unbearable, and I thought I wouldn't continue. But my coach told me to try a short runway., I managed 84m+."
When asked about being compared to Paris Olympics silver medallist Arshad Nadeem, Sachin remained grounded. "It's an honor to be compared to him. He's a world-class athlete, and I'm still at the national level. But it motivates me to improve."
The towering 6-foot-4-inch javelin thrower, Sachin, has yet to compete in any international competitions. However, in the future, he'll face formidable opponents like Neeraj Chopra, Arshad Nadeem, Jakub Vadlejch, and Anderson Peters.
When asked about this, Sachin confidently said, "With God's grace, if I get a chance to compete against them, I will focus solely on competing with myself. I won't be concerned with who I'm up against or their past achievements. In the competition, they are all fellow athletes, and my only goal is to give my best. If I achieve that, I'll be satisfied."
Currently, Sachin is recovering from his ankle injury and will miss the upcoming Indian Open Throws Competition in Mumbai but aims to return for the Federation Cup. "Recovery will take about a month. I've had to skip a few sessions, but we're working on alternative workouts to keep my body in rhythm."
With his unwavering determination and recent performances, Sachin Yadav is emerging as India's next big javelin prospect.
