In a big blow to Mumbai, India batter Sarfaraz Khan has been hospitalized aehad of Mumbai's Ranji Trophy quarterfinal encounter.
Sarfaraz, who has been a key batter for them, was taken to the hospital on Wednesday (February 4) due to fever and looks set to miss out on the quarterfinal against Karnataka on February 6 at Mumbai's Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy.

Sarfaraz Khan has been on fire in this Ranji Trophy season, piling up 429 runs across nine innings at a stellar average of 53.62, highlighted by one century and a fifty. Shardul Thakur is back at the helm for Mumbai's quarterfinal showdown against Karnataka, with Yashasvi Jaiswal rejoining the squad for this high-stakes battle. Siddhesh Lad, who led Mumbai in Shardul's absence, would also be aiming to score his 5th consecutive century as they play in the knockouts.
Sarfaraz has been a top player for Mumbai, and his potential absence is a big setback. MyKhel contacted Sarfaraz's father, who confirmed the hospitalization, but reiterated that it was a minor fever.
"I will go to the hospital today and check how he is now. He was admitted with a minor fever yesteday," said Sarfaraz's father Naushad Khan, to this website.
Although the player was admitted on Wednesday, his current recovery is likely to be around 3-4 days, thus effectively ruling him out of the key encounter. Sarfaraz may miss out, but Musheer Khan is expected to play in the match against Karnataka.
