Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is set to return to the small screen in a grand fashion. The former Indian captain has partnered with Star Jalsha for a major non-fiction venture that will see him host Bigg Boss Bangla and an all-new quiz show, both scheduled to premiere in July 2026.
The much-anticipated television comeback is poised to elevate Bengali entertainment, especially with the regional debut of Bigg Boss Bangla under Ganguly's charismatic presence. Production for both shows will begin in early July 2025, promising high-quality visuals, gripping narratives, and a significant boost to the Bengali television landscape.

Speaking on his return to TV, Ganguly remarked, "Television has always given me a special way to connect with people, and it gives me great pleasure to associate with Star Jalsha as we begin a new chapter of storytelling through innovative non-fiction programming. I'm thrilled to be hosting two exciting shows that celebrate both entertainment and intellect. I've always believed in the power of connecting with audiences beyond the cricket field, and this collaboration allows me to do just that-by exploring fresh formats and real stories that inspire and engage. It's a new innings, and I'm ready to play it with the same passion I brought to the game."
This collaboration marks one of the most ambitious ventures in regional Indian television. According to industry reports, the four-year deal between Ganguly and Star Jalsha is valued at a staggering Rs 125 crore, underscoring the channel's commitment to innovation and star-driven programming.
Ganguly's deal of Rs 125 crore is almost five times than Rishabh Pant, who is the IPL's most expensive player and was bought for Rs 27 crore. Even if we divide Ganguly's earning per year, a staggering Rs 31.25 crore is more than what Pant will earn from LSG in the IPL.
Ganguly's Bigg Boss Bangla and Quiz show is likely to bring a lot more viewership of the regional tv channel as they vie to reach greater status in the entertainment arena. The former BCCI president was also recently re-appointed as the chairperson of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's Cricket Committee.
