1. India Women Begin Asia Cup With 94-Run Win

India Women opened their 2026 Women's T20 Asia Cup campaign with a commanding 94-run victory over Thailand in Dubai. Shafali Verma led the batting effort with a blistering 64 off 36 balls, helping India post 159/9 despite a middle-order collapse. Thailand were then bowled out for 65 in 16.1 overs. Deepti Sharma and Nandani Sharma took three wickets each, while Deepti produced extraordinary figures of 3/0.

2. Arsenal Sanction Triple Departure

Arsenal are set for a major squad overhaul with Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira all sanctioned to leave. Martinelli is moving to Al Hilal for a reported club-record £55.7 million, while Jesus is set to join Barcelona for around £8.6 million. Vieira is also leaving permanently for Hamburg. Calling the reports "completely baseless", Viswanathan rejected speculation over Dhoni allegedly discussing an equity purchase. The rumours emerged amid uncertainty surrounding Dhoni after he missed IPL 2026 through injury. CSK have maintained their strong association with the legendary former captain, while Dhoni's future role remains a major talking point.

4. Will MS Dhoni Play In IPL 2027?

MS Dhoni's IPL 2027 future remains undecided, with CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan revealing that the former India captain has not ruled himself out. "Dhoni hasn't yet said he won't play. So lets wait," Viswanathan told PTI. Dhoni missed the entire 2026 season because of injury but has not announced retirement. CSK remain keen to retain his association with the franchise, whether as a player, coach or mentor.

5. BCCI Seeks Franchise Feedback On Impact Player Rule

The BCCI has sought feedback from IPL franchises on the future of the Impact Player rule ahead of IPL 2027. Franchises have been asked to consult their cricket operations teams and submit their views. Introduced in 2023, the rule allows teams to replace one player during a match. While it provides tactical flexibility, several players have criticised it for reducing the importance of genuine all-rounders.

6. Joe Root's Captaincy Record Against Asian Teams

Joe Root strengthened his remarkable record against Asian opposition after England defeated Pakistan by 194 runs in the second Test at Lord's. The victory took Root to 15 wins in 25 matches as England captain against Asian teams, surpassing Andrew Strauss' 14 victories. Alastair Cook has 12 wins, while Nasser Hussain and Ben Stokes have seven each. England's win also secured a 2-0 series lead over Pakistan.

7. South Delhi Superstarz Win Delhi Premier League 2026

South Delhi Superstarz were crowned Delhi Premier League 2026 champions after defeating Central Delhi Kings by seven wickets in the final at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Chasing 183, South Delhi reached 186/3 with 10 balls to spare, with Ankit and Anmol Sharma producing unbeaten half-centuries to complete a dominant chase. The victory capped a strong campaign for the Superstarz, who had already beaten Central Delhi in Qualifier 1.

8. Manchester United Beat Ipswich 5-2

Manchester United bounced back from their opening-day defeat to Hull City with a commanding 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town at Old Trafford.
