1. Ravichandran Ashwin gets Road named after Him

Former India star Ravichandran Ashwin has got a road named after him in Chennai. The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has approved the renaming of Ramakrishnapuram 1st Street in West Mambalam as Ravichandran Ashwin Road, in recognition of Ashwin's contribution to Indian cricket. Ashwin will represent Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025.

2. Shardul Thakur set to be roped in by LSG

Shardul Thakur has been roped in by Lucknow Super Giants for the IPL 2025 season. The India all-rounder was left unsold in the mega auction but has now been included as a replacement for Mohsin Khan. Thakur was seen earlier in practice with LSG players and will now be hoping to make a mark for the franchise.

3. Shakib Al Hasan gets ban on Bowling lifted

Shakib Al Hasan has received clearance on bowling as the ECB has lifted the ban. The Bangladesh all-rounder was banned on suspicion of illegal action, but now is cleared to bowl at all levels of cricket.

4. Yuvraj Singh will lead India in WCL Season 2

Yuvraj Singh will be leading the Indian team in the World Championship of Legends Season 2. The former India star has been active in the legends cricket tournaments in recent times. Hasan Nawaz scored an unbeaten century as Pakistan beat New Zealand in the 3rd T20I in Auckland on Friday. The 22-year-old scored an unbeaten 105 off just 45 balls as they chased the target of 205 runs within 16 overs. Nawaz scored the first international centre of his career.

6. Cristiano Ronaldo draws blank as Denmark beat Portugal

Cristiano Ronaldo was left frustrated as Portugal suffered a 0-1 defeat at the hands of Denmark in the first leg of UEFA Nations League quarterfinal on Thursday. Rasmus Hojlund scored the solitary goal for the Danes, while Ronaldo drew blank and was underwhelming in the match. The second leg will be played on Sunday in Portugal.

7. Germany beat Italy, Netherlands hold Spain

Germany secured a 2-1 away win against Italy in the Nations League quarterfinal 1st leg as Leon Goretzka scored the winning goal. Mikel Merino scored a 93rd minute goal to earn a 2-2 draw against Netherlands in their respective quarterfinal clash. Croatia, meanwhile, secured a 2-0 first leg victory over France.

8. Vinicius Junior scores to seal huge win for Brazil

Vinicius Junior scored in the 99th minute to secure 2-1 victory for Brazil in their World Cup qualifiers match against Colombia. Raphinha scored from the spot to give Brazil the lead before Luis Diaz equalized four minutes from half time. The victory has propelled Brazil to the 2nd spot in the World Cup qualifiers points table, while Colombia remain 6th in the standings. For the World Cup 2026, six South American nations will participate while the 7th placed team can also qualify via intercontinental playoffs.

9. Novak Djokovic slams PTPA Lawsuit

Novak Djokovic, co-founder of the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA), has expressed partial disagreement with aspects of a recent class-action lawsuit filed by the PTPA against tennis governing bodies, including the ATP, WTA, ITF, and ITIA. The lawsuit alleges anti-competitive practices related to prize money distribution, ranking systems, and the demanding 11-month calendar that impacts player welfare.
