His appointment comes on the recommendation of new head coach Zaheer Khan, who was granted autonomy to build his own support staff following Stephen Fleming's departure. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed the decision.

Mohit, who played 48 matches for CSK during his playing career and retired from all formats in December 2025, marks his return to the franchise in a coaching role.

ICC to Unveil 2027 ODI World Cup

The schedule for the 14-team 2027 Men's ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia will be unveiled on October 1, with the final scheduled for November 21, 2027.

The revised format begins with a preliminary Super Series for the lowest three ranked teams, leading into a 12-team group stage. Seven sides will then advance to a "Super 7" round-robin phase to decide the four semi-finalists. Ticket ballot registration also opens on October 1.
