US-Iran Peace Deal: Amid Iran in USA for FIFA World Cup 2026, Pakistan Makes Huge Announcement as War set to End
In a stunning diplomatic breakthrough that could reshape geopolitics just as the FIFA World Cup 2026 unfolds across North America, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the United States and Iran have reached a comprehensive peace deal.
The agreement ends months of military conflict, including operations in Lebanon, with an official signing ceremony scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland.

Sharif posted the announcement on X, crediting both Washington and Tehran for committing to diplomacy and thanking Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye for their support. Technical talks are set for this week ahead of the Switzerland signing.
"Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED. Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon," Sherif wrote on X.
The deal builds on an April ceasefire and includes the gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil supplies that had been heavily contested during the fighting.
Iran Players to play in USA in FIFA World Cup 2026
The timing is dramatic. Iran's national football team, Team Melli, has arrived on American soil — or at least its doorstep — for the tournament. After visa hurdles forced a base camp switch to Tijuana, Mexico, the squad crossed into the U.S. for its opening matches, playing under intense global scrutiny amid the ongoing war.
The World Cup 2026, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, was already a high-stakes event with Iran drawn into matches on U.S. soil.
Iran's participation faced logistical nightmares: denied visas for several officials, a last-minute base in Tijuana, and heavy security. Yet the team pushed forward. The peace announcement arrives as Iran prepares for key group-stage games, potentially easing travel and tensions for players and supporters.
