Yuzvendra Chahal Divorce: India Cricketers who have Parted with their Marriage

Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma have officially parted ways as a Mumbai court granted them divorce on Thursday (March 20).

The couple were living separately for some time and were through the separation process for the past few months. The India spinner reportedly had issues with his wife, who seemed divorce due to compatibility issue. Chahal is also reportedly paying Rs 4.75 crore as alimony.

But Yuzvendra Chahal is not the first Indian player to have undergone divorce. Many of the Indian cricketers have undergone a marital separation over the years. Here are the Indian cricket stars who parted ways with their wives-

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya broke up with Natasa Stankovic in 2024. Natasa's social media activities, where she removed Pandya from her name and deleted photos didn't go unnoticed. Natasa's absence in the IPL 2024 also heightened the general quora in people's minds. As many were fearing the worst, it happened to be the case.

Dinesh Karthik

This divorce is perhaps the most controversial among Indian cricketers. Dinesh Karthik married his childhood friend Nikita Vanjara in 2012. Their marriage ended due to Nikita's affair with Dinesh's teammate, former India batter Murali Vijay. Dinesh and Nikita divorced, and in 2015, Dinesh married squash player Dipika Pallikal. They have twin boys, Kabir and Zian.

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan met Aesha Mukherjee on Facebook, and they married in 2012. It was Aesha's second marriage, while Shikhar's first. They have a son named Zoraver. Aesha lived in Australia with Zoraver, leading to Shikhar's complaints about being kept apart. In 2023, a Delhi Court granted him a divorce on grounds of mental cruelty by Aesha. The Indian player loves his son hugely and often shares emotional posts on social media.

Vinod Kambli

Vinod Kambli's first marriage was with childhood friend Noella Lewis. They divorced in 2005. Vinod then married model Andrea Hewitt, converting to Christianity. They have two sons and a daughter. Vinod's personal life caught media attention but he's kept a low profile since.

Mohammad Azharuddin

Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin's life has been controversial. He divorced his first wife Naureen in 1996, marrying actress Sangeeta Bijlani. This marriage also ended after 14 years.

He had two sons with his first wife. Mohammad Ayazuddin died in a road accident in 2011, while elder son Mohammad Asaduddin married Anam Mirza, sister of Indian tennis star Sania Mirza.

Mohammad Shami

In 2018, Hasin Jahan, Mohammad Shami's estranged wife, accused him of domestic abuse and adultery. Shami denied these allegations, calling them a conspiracy. The couple separated in 2018 and their legal battle continues. They have a daughter together. Incidentally, Haseen Jahan also had a marriage before she tied the knot with Shami.

Yograj Singh

Yuvraj Singh's father, Yograj Singh married Shabnam Kaur and the couple together had two sons. Yograj then went on to marry Satbir Kaur after parting ways with Shabnam. He has a son and a daughter from his second marriage. It is heard that Shabnam Kaur's will to have a career was not supported by Yograj, which resulted in their separation.

Javagal Srinath

Former India pacer Javagal Srinath married his first wife Jyothsna in 1999. However, the marriage failed and then the former India pacer went on to marry ajournamist named Madhavi Patravali in 2008. There was no such controversy during the pacer's separation though.
