Alex's journey in swimming started under the guidance of Coach Vasyl Lysenko. Inspired by US swimmer Michael Phelps, Alex adopted the philosophy, "Don't give up, and win." This mindset propelled him to excel in his sport.

In 2016, Alex's performance at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro earned him the Order for Courage [third class] of Ukraine. He was also honoured with the title of Honoured Master of Sport in Ukraine. In 2020, he received the title of Honorary Citizen of Mariupol.

Alex holds multiple degrees. He earned a degree in Economics from Mariupol State University. In 2017, he completed a degree in physical education at Berdyansk State Pedagogical University. Two years later, he obtained a degree in public administration from Mariupol State University.

In 2020, Alex was elected to Mariupol City Council. He serves as deputy of the Committee on Industry, Transport, Communications and Roads. His role involves addressing local issues and contributing to community development.
