Oney Tapia Biography
Transition to Para Athletics
He took up Para athletics in 2013 in Bergamo, Italy. By 2015, he made his debut for Italy at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar. His passion for athletics helped him find balance after losing his vision. He was forced to withdraw from the 2019 World Championships due to a hip injury.
Coaching and Influence
His coaches include Sergio Burratti and Antonino Morabito. Coach Guido Sgherzi has also been a significant influence on him. He believes that defeats are an opportunity to look inward and start again.
