Piotr Grudzien Biography

He was inspired by Swedish table tennis player Jan-Ove Waldner. His journey in the sport started as a winter activity when outdoor sports were not possible. Over time, playing with his father turned into a passion that shaped his career.

Paralympic Success

At the age of 16, he won a silver medal in singles at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing. He participated as a wild card entrant and lost the gold medal match to Chinese player Chen Gang. This early success provided him with valuable experience and strengthened his performance in significant matches.

In 2013, he was honoured with the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta by the president of Poland. He was named the Best Athlete with an Impairment of the Year in Zielona Gora, Poland, in 2010. Additionally, he received the Gold Cross of Merit from the president of Poland in 2008.

He currently plays for START Zielona Gora in Poland. His club coach is Lucjan Blaszczyk, while Andrzej Ochal coaches him at the national level. He plays right-handed and has been associated with these coaches for several years.
