Are Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray going to split after the Australian Open 2025 Injury Exit?
Novak Djokovic's Australian Open 2025 campaign came to an unfortunate end after he retired from his semi-final clash against Alexander Zverev due to a thigh muscle tear. The abrupt exit not only dashed his hopes of claiming a 25th Grand Slam title but also cast uncertainty over his coaching partnership with Andy Murray.
Djokovic, who had enlisted Murray's help for the tournament, remained non-committal about the future of their collaboration. The Serbian star, a 10-time champion at Melbourne Park, retired after losing the first-set tiebreak to Zverev.

Despite the injury, Djokovic had shown flashes of brilliance during the tournament, notably outsmarting Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals. Speaking to reporters after his withdrawal, Djokovic acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the next steps with Murray. "I don't know," he said when asked if the two might work together again. "We both were disappointed with what just happened, so we didn't talk about the future steps. We are so fresh off the court."
Djokovic praised Murray's contributions during the tournament, expressing gratitude for his presence in the camp. "I'll definitely have a chat with Andy and thank him for being here with me. You know, give him my feedback, which is, of course, positive, and see how he feels and we make the next step."
However, he emphasised that it was too soon to make any decisions, adding that both needed time to process the outcome. "We are still hot-headed and disappointed, so it's kind of hard to switch the page and start talking about what the next steps are. I think we both need to cool off a little bit and then we'll have a chat."
The partnership between Djokovic and Murray had intrigued the tennis world, given their storied careers and combined 27 Grand Slam titles. While the pairing showed potential, particularly in Djokovic's tactical masterclass against Alcaraz, the dramatic end to his tournament has left questions about whether the two will continue their collaboration.
As Djokovic begins his recovery and Murray evaluates the partnership's future, fans are left wondering if this was a one-off collaboration or the start of something more significant. For now, the focus remains on Djokovic's fitness and his journey back to full form.
