Professional wrestling fans are up for a treat, this weekend when two of the top wrestling companies team up for the second annual AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door event at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
As you can see, All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s partnership will continue through the show where several co-branded matches are scheduled to go down. The potential headliner of the night should be an AEW World Title Match.

As revealed through the betting odds via SportsBetting, the AEW World Heavyweight Champion MJF is heavily favoured (-5000) to retain his title against Hiroshi Tanahashi (+1000). Per the storyline, MJF still has a chance of no-showing at Forbidden Door.
In the other world title match at the pay-per-view event, the top champion from NJPW, SANADA is the heavy favourite (-5000) to retain the IWGP World Heavyweight title against "Jungle Boy" Jack Perry (+1000).
Will Ospreay remains a slight favourite (-250) to defeat Kenny Omega (+180) and capture the IWGP United States Championship in a redemption-seeking rematch? Omega took the title away from Ospreay, earlier this year in January.
In two top non-title matches at Forbidden Door 2023, Kazuchika Okada is favoured (-550) to defeat Bryan Danielson (+325) while CM Punk (+10000) is an expected favourite to pick up a win over Japanese veteran Satoshi Kojima (+1100).
The only Women’s Title Match scheduled at the dual-branded PPV is the AEW Women’s Championship match where the champion Toni Storm (-2000) should retain against NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale (+700). The storm will have her The Outcasts cohorts by her side.
Heading into the PPV, a report from Fightful Select hinted at uncertainties over the status of Bryan Danielson in terms of wrestling as the veteran is "banged up.” This is the same reason why he performs in limited matches in AEW.
There’s no confirmed update on whether Bryan’s match against Okada is in jeopardy due to this or whether Bryan would be performing limited stunts during the match. Forbidden Door would mark his eighth-only match of this year.
