By Samyuktha
New York, Aug 21: Last year, Serena Williams took US Open by a storm with her foul-mouthed tirade that invited a record fine. But for all those who were waiting to see the three-time winner perform at Flushing Meadows after her rather embarrassing outburst, here is some bad news, she is not playing the 2010 tournament.

"It is with much frustration and deep sadness that I am having to pull out of the US Open," Williams said in a statement.

In her statement released by her publicist on Friday, Aug 20, the top ranked player said that she was still recovering from the surgery to repair cuts on her right foot.

She informed that her doctors have advised her not to play to allow her foot to heal.

Expressing great disappointment over having to miss the tournament, she dubbed it "one of the most devastating moments of my career."

The American ace was reportedly hurt by a broken glass at a restaurant while she was in Munich in Jul 2010. She underwent a surgery on Jul 15.

Before she hurt herself, she had claimed victory at Wimbledon 2010 on Jul 3.

In 2009, the 28-year-old's US Open campaign came to an end in the semifinals after her foul-mouthed tirade directed at the a line judge over a foot-fault call.
