AITA to host ITF Women's $50,000 Tennis Tournament from Mar 10

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) Four Indians - Shikha Uberoi, Isha Lakhani, Rushmi Chakravarty and Ankita Bhambri have been awarded wild cards in the ITF Women's 50,000 dollar Tennis Tournament to be played at the R K Khanna stadium from March 10.

Sunitha Rao will be the highest ranked Indian player in the tournament.

Meanwhile, in the qualifying round of the tournament today, India's Parul Goswami went down 2-6, 6-3, 4-6 to So-Jung Kim of South Korea.

The Indian was leading the third set 3-0 and looked set for a win against the 607-ranked Korean, but Kim came back well to finish the game at 6-4.

The top four seeded players in the main draw are Johansson Mathilde (France), Klepac Andreja (Slo), Mansieva Vesna (Rus) and Wickmayer Yanina (Bel).

The All India Tennis Association (AITA) will host the 50,000 dollar event which is the largest prize money ever to be offered for an ITF Women's tournament in India.
