Carlos Alcaraz demonstrated resilience to overcome Tallon Griekspoor in the second round of the Paris Olympic Games. The reigning French Open champion secured a straight-sets victory, winning 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) in one hour and 48 minutes. Initially, it seemed like another routine match for Alcaraz at Roland-Garros as he quickly took a 3-0 lead in the first set. Despite Griekspoor pulling one back, Alcaraz's aggressive play ensured he maintained his advantage. In the second set, Griekspoor found his rhythm, matching Alcaraz stride for stride. The Dutchman even threatened to take the set with a break, but Alcaraz defended successfully and forced a tie-break. When it mattered most, Alcaraz turned up the heat, winning the last four points consecutively to secure his place in the next round against Roman Safiullin.Unlike his opening round where he breezed past Lebanon's Hady Habib with a 6-3, 6-1 victory, this match required more effort from Alcaraz. Despite facing a tougher challenge, he did not drop a single service game and saved two break points. He will return to action on Tuesday to team up with Rafael Nadal in the men's doubles.
