Carlos Alcaraz Sets Sights On Gold After Dominating Paris Olympics Semifinal

Carlos Alcaraz stormed into the Olympic Games final with a straight-sets victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime, moving closer to a historic gold medal.

Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the Olympic Games final with a commanding straight-sets victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime on Friday. The Spaniard secured his spot in the gold-medal match by winning 6-1, 6-1 in just 76 minutes on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Auger-Aliassime managed to win the first game on his serve, but Alcaraz quickly took control, winning the next six games to claim the first set in just 40 minutes. In the second set, the Canadian again won his opening service game but had no answers as Alcaraz delivered one of his best performances of the season.

Alcaraz Eyes Olympic Gold

Alcaraz did not face a single break point throughout the match and won the last five games consecutively. He successfully earned two breaks of his own, moving Auger-Aliassime around the court with dynamic play. This victory guarantees Alcaraz a medal, and he will compete against either Novak Djokovic or Lorenzo Musetti in the final.

The 21-year-old has already had an impressive year, having won both the French Open and Wimbledon. If he secures gold at the Olympics, he will join Rafael Nadal (2008) as the only players to win these three prestigious titles in a single year.

Alcaraz is now guaranteed a place in Olympic history as he becomes the youngest men's singles finalist ever. He surpasses Robert LeRoy from St. Louis 1904 and is also the youngest since tennis was reintroduced to the Olympics in 1988.
