Bhupathi fails to reach semis, Indian challenge ends at Masters Cu

Shanghai, Nov 13 (UNI) Indian challenge in the Masters Cup came to an end as Mahesh Bhupathi and his Bahmian partner lost their doubles match to crash out out of the 4,45,000 dollar event here today.

The third seeded Bhupathi and Mark Knowles lost thier last round-robin match to the Peru-Uruguay pair Luis Horna and Pablo Cue Vas 7-6(3), 6-7(4), 5-10.

It was a must-win match for both the pairs of the Red group in order to qualify for the semifinal stage.

With Bhupathi's loss today, Indian challenge came to an end as Leander Paes and his Czech partner Lukas Dlouhy have already bowed out of the tournament after they went down to Polish duo of Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski 7-6(2), 6-3 yesterday.

Only the top two teams of the Red and Gold groups will compete in the semifinals.
