Bhupathi-Knowles advances to Cincinnati semis

Cincinnati, Aug 1 (UNI) Indian tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi along with his Bahamas partner Mark Knowles strolled into the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Masters beating the American pair of Mardy Fish and John Isner.

The fourth seeded pair of Bhupathi-Knowles defeated the American wild card duo by a narrow margin 7-5, 6-7(5), 12-10 in the quarters.

Fisher-Isner had earlier upset fifth seeds Jonas Bjorkman and Kevin Ullyett 7-6(4), 7-6(14) in their second round match before they came up short against the Indo-Bahaman duo.

This is for the first time that Bhupathi-Knowles have advanced into the semifinals since the Masters Series Monte-Carlo in April, where they finished runners-up to Rafael Nadal and Tommy Robredo.

The Indian star will now face the top seeds Mike and Bob Bryan in the semis tomorrow.
