Bhupathi-Knowles go down to Bryan brothers at Masters Cup

By Staff

Shanghai, Nov 11 (UNI) Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles made a desperate effort before the Indo-Bahmian pair was overpowered by top seeds Mike and Bob Bryan in the second round-robin match of the 4,45,000 dollars Tennis Masters Cup here today.

The third-seeded Indo-Bahamian pair went down 5-7, 6-3, 4-10 to their formidable American rivals in the Red Group.

In the keenly-contested first-set the top seed pair took the lead as they converted a crucial breakpoint as their opponents missed theirs.

The duo of Mahesh-Knowles drew parity as they won the next set in which they broke their rivals twice and saved as many breakpoints on their serve.

However, in the super tie-breaker Bryan brothers prevailed to record their second successive win.

Top two teams of the Red and Gold group would make the semifinal stage of the season-ending event.
