Bhupathi remains static, Paes tumbles in ATP rankings

By Staff

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Despite his runners-up finish at the Miami Masters, Indian tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi failed to improve his doubles standings in the ATP ladder as he remained static at 13th, whereas Leander Paes dropped four spots to 24th in the list issued today.

Bhupathi and his Bahamas' partner Mark Knowles reached the final in Miami last week but lost in the summit clash to top seeds Mark and Bob Bryan.

The Indian ace now has 3050 points.

However, Paes, who was partnering Australia's Paul Hanley, could only go as far as the quarterfinals where they lost to Bhupathi and Knowles.

His performance has left him down by four spots with 1845 points.

Meanwhile, Sania Mirza, who was forced to pull out of the Miami Masters due to wrist injury, remained static at the 31st position with 917 points in the WTA rankings.
