Bisht crushes Munshaw in a revenge tie, in under-16 tennis nationals
Mumbai, May 15 (UNI) Delhi's Rohit Bisht proved that his loss to Gujarat's Vaidik Munshaw last week was a minor aberration when he crushed the latter 6-1, 6-0 to advance to the third round of boys under-16 section of Ramesh Desai Memorial under-12 and under-16 Nationals, organised by the MSLTA at the Dr G A Ranade Tennis Complex here today.
The 12th seed was in a ruthless mood in the revenge encounter and never allowed his bespectacled opponent a look in as he steamrolled his way to victory. Joining him in the third round was younger brother Ronit, seeded 16th, who outplayed Maharashtra's Karan Alwani 6-0, 6-2.
The big boys of junior tennis, top seed Ronak Manuja, second seed Sitaram Sudhanva and third seed Christopher Marquis also had an easy passage into the third round with straight-set victories.
Action in the girls under-16 first round hotted up with a couple of close matches, even as the seeded players had it easy. Prarthana Thombre of Maharashtra dropped the first set to Statemate Vaidehi Bhagwat before prevailing 2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-1, while Shraddha Dali recovered from a sluggish start to down AP's Surya Tejaswini 1-6, 6-2, 6-4.
