US Open 2023 men's doubles live update

Hello and welcome to the men's doubles finals which is slated to start at 9:30 PM IST. Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden are going up against Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury. This is your host Abhishek Raj taking you through the live-action!

Bopanna and Ebden have had a great run in the championships so far. In the five games that the duo has played, they have just lost one set. Ram and Salisbury are also having a similar trajectory in the competition and have a great bit of momentum going their way. The defending champions have reached their third consecutive US Open doubles finals.

It's Bopanna's second Grand Slam doubles final, the first also coincidently came in the flushing meadows back in 2010 with his Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi. However, the duo couldn't cross Bryan brothers' hurdle and lost in a hardly fought game of two sets (7-6(7-5), 7-6(7-4)).

Bopanna has just one Grand Slam title to his name, which came in the mixed doubles event at the French Open in 2017 with his Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski. He also has played two Australian Open finals in mixed-doubles, one of which came earlier this year with his Indian partner Saniya Mirza.

It has been quite a remarkable year for Bopanna and what makes it even more special is the fact that he was considering to take retirement from the game, back in 2021. Bopanna while talking to ATPTour.com said, "I was sitting near the ocean and I was telling myself, 'What am I even doing? I'm not even winning matches, I have a family at home. Should I just call it a day and just go back?'"
